As we celebrate National School Sports Week, we’re challenging everyone to get moving by creating their own sports day at home. This year, we’re bringing the fun, excitement, and friendly competition of sports day into our homes and gardens.
A sports day isn’t just about the races and the ribbons; it’s about the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the joy of movement. So, get the family together, choose your teams and let’s get started!
Inspiration for you sports day at home
The classic egg and spoon race
This one is an old favourite and all you need is a spoon and a small ball or an egg. If you’re indoors, we recommend a ball; we don’t want any eggy mishaps on the carpet!
Sack race
If you don’t have sacks, pillowcases work just as well. These races are all about balance and coordination, and they’re guaranteed to cause a few giggles too!
Obstacle course
Use what you have in your home or garden to create a fun and challenging obstacle course. For example, this could include jumping over cushions, crawling under tables or zigzagging between plant pots.
Balloon volleyball
All you need is a balloon and a piece of string for a net. This game, which can be played indoors or outdoors, is a great way to improve hand-eye coordination.
Dance off
Create a playlist of your favourite songs and have a family dance-off. This is a great way to get everyone moving and grooving.
Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the process. Share your sports day photos and videos with us by tagging us on social media @behealthybucks. We can’t wait to see how you bring the spirit of sports day into your homes!
Together, we can make National School Sports Week a time of fun, activity and most of all, togetherness.
Stay healthy, stay active, and keep having fun
