Make this sparkling non-alcoholic Buck’s fizz

Home Icon

It’s nice to have a drop of bubbly at Christmas, and our non-alcoholic Buck’s fizz means you don’t need to miss out if you’re cutting back on booze.

A classic Buck’s fizz is made with orange juice and champagne, but non-alcoholic Prosecco turns it into a lovely festive soft drink treat.

Ingredients

  • Bottle of non-alcoholic Prosecco (usually sold in 75cl bottles)
  • Freshly squeezed orange juice (bits or no bits is up to you)
  • Chilled champagne glasses

Method

  1. Pour orange juice into the glasses until they are one-third full.
  2. Top up with non-alcoholic Prosecco.
  3. Stir with a small spoon and enjoy.

Variations

If you fancy trying something a bit different, here are a few more drinks which follow the same basic idea:

BelliniBlend fresh or tinned peaches and mix the puree with the non-alcoholic prosecco in the same amounts.

Strawberry Bellini – blend strawberries and strain out the seeds, then mix in the same amounts.

Raspberry Bellini – blend raspberries with a little sugar, and strain out seeds. Add a little mint if you wish.

Fun Buck’s fizz facts

The Buck’s fizz is claimed to have been invented by a barman at the private London gentleman’s Buck’s Club in the 1930s.

While a Buck’s fizz has the same basic ingredients as a mimosa, it contains a higher proportion of bubbly to orange juice.

If you search the internet for “Bucks fizz”, the top results will refer to the British pop act of the same name — who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Making Your Mind Up.

Bucks Fizz had four members when they won Eurovision, but Wikipedia now lists a total of 17 past and present band members.
